European Capital Markets and Brexit: The Road(s) ahead

Financial markets are important for delivering economic growth and stability to the citizens of the European Union but they also pose danger to the prosperity of Europe.  The Capital Markets Union (CMU) is designed to give firms and households better access to financial services, fostering market integration across the EU.  Supporting the mission of the CMU is financial technology and artificial intelligence, which promise to revolutionise the provision of financial services in Europe, while also creating new threats. Meanwhile, the uncertainty around Brexit also adversely affects the provision of financial services.  The aim of this workshop is to explore the challenges facing the financial sector in Europe in the context of the CMU, highlighting which are the  obstacles to market financing for SMEs and companies in general and  which are the tools in the hands of the national administration and legislators to address and fix these challenges.
